The have been heated exchanges in an emergency session in the European Parliament in Brussels following the UK voting to leave the European Union by a 52 per cent majority.
The sitting began with a curious scene of an air kiss between the president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude and the British eurosceptic member of the European parliament Nigel Farage.
European Parliamentarians voted overwhelmingly on a resolution to push the UK to begin the process of leaving the EU by invoking article 50 of the Lisbon treaty as soon as possible.
The UKIP leader Nigel Farage did not hold back on his condemnation of his fellow MEPs during his speech.
