Cincinnati Zoo in the US has been criticised for shooting and killing a 400 pound gorilla, after a four year old boy enter the enclosure.
Video footage taken on phones shows the Gorilla dragging the child around the enclosure and screams of onlookers can be heard.
It's understood the 4 year old spent 10 minutes trapped by the gorilla before the response team took the decision to shoot the animal.
Thousands of people have now signed an online petition, calling for the boy's parents to be held accountable for not watching their child closer.
Zoo director Thayne Maynard said it was a difficult decision to shoot the gorilla.
Animal expert Jack Hanna told Fox and Friends that male gorillas are extremely powerful and the zoo had no choice but to act:
IN: When you look....
OUT: ...is beyond belief
DUR: 19 seconds
Speaking on Fox and Friends, animal expert Jack Hanna said using a tranquilizer on the gorilla could have put the child in more danger:
IN: More than likely...
OUT: ...involved here everyone
