Melbourne property owner charged with neglect after leaving 40 or more horses to die

Residents were alerted to something being seriously wrong at a property on the outskirts of Melbourne after a foul smell wafted across the district on Sunday.

Police found more than 40 horses decomposing or dying, and whilst a property owner has been charged with animal cruelty, there are suggestions the problem could go much deeper.
