Helen Clark announces UN Secretary-General bid

Former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark has announced she is
running for the world's top diplomat job, the United Nations
Secretary-General.

Ban Ki-moon's time in charge comes to an end on the final day of 2016.

Helen Clark joins seven other candidates who will begin public
interviews next week.

Speaking in New York Helen Clark said she was honoured to received the
backing of the New Zealand government.
