The United Nations says South Sudan's newly-appointed Vice President
should return to the country to take up his position.
The country's President Salva Kiir reappointed his deputy Riek Machar,
but Machar is refusing to return from Ethiopia, citing security
concerns.
South Sudan has been embroiled in civil war for more than two years
after Kiir accused his Machar of plotting a coup.
The two men signed of a peace agreement in August but fighting
continues throughout much of the country.
Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the UN welcomed the announcement but
stressed Machar must return to take up the vice presidency.
