The White House is reportedly set to announce (update intro on announcement) that President Obama will visit Cuba within the next month.
It will be the first time an American President has set foot on the island since 1928.
Diplomatic ties between Washington and Havana were restored in July.
But US Republican politicians say a visit should not take place while the Castro family continues to run Cuba.
