US President Barack Obama is in Alaska aiming to put climate change at the forefront of the global agenda.
But whether he can successfully navigate the two competing interests of energy and the environment — is the prevailing question of his visit.
During his three-day tour he will hike a glacier and film a TV show with survivalist Bear Grylls — all part of a highly orchestrated White House campaign to illustrate how climate change has damaged the state's stunning landscape.
