Georgia, rejecting Papal intervention, will execute first woman for 70 years

The authorities in the American state of Georgia have rejected a personal plea by Pope Francis, and will go ahead tonight with the execution of convicted murderer Kelly Gissendaner.

It's the third time Georgia has attempted to put her to death for persuading her boyfriend to kill her husband, and she'll become the first woman executed in the state for 70 years.
