Smaller panda cub at National Zoo dies

The smaller of the two panda cubs born just a few days ago has died.

The smaller cub was found to be in some sort of respiratory distress  when the veternarians went to swap the babies, a normal protocol developed by the Woolong Panda Center to help a panda mother raise twins.

Don Neiffer is  chief veterinarian of the National Zoo, part of the Smithsonian Institution.
