Retail sales point to US economic growth

The United States Commerce Department has released July's retail sales
figures suggesting the US economy is continuing to show signs of
strength.

Consumer spending is seen as the major driver of the US economy and
this data could help persuade the Federal Reserve to raise interest
rates as early as September.
