Oliver Sacks, renowned neurologist and author, dead at 82

The neurologist and best-live author Oliver Sacks has died in New York at the age of 82.

He’d been suffering from cancer, and wrote movingly about his struggle with the disease and his impending death earlier this year.

Dr. Sacks was born in Britain, but had lived in the United States since the 1960s.

His writings were widely acclaimed, and his book “Awakenings” was turned into a film starring Robert De Niro and Robin Williams.

In 2012, talking about his book “Hallucinations”, he spoke about his own experiences with amphetamines and the lessons he learned about the human mind.
