Australian treasurer joins push towards a republic

Australian Treasurer Joe Hockey and senator Katy Gallagher have announced they will join a new cross-party push for an Australian republic.
The republic question has been on the back-burner since a referendum failed in 1999 on the question of having an Australian head of state.
