U.S. State department human trafficking report has activists up in arms

The U.S. State Department is releasing [has released] its 2015 Trafficking in Persons Report (TIP) after a four-week delay. [10 am EST- NB editors, please update lead]

The annual report scrutinizes some 188 countries' efforts to comply with minimum standards in the crackdown of human trafficking.

The report rates each country according to a Tier system- Tier 1 being most compliant, and Tier 3 being the worst.

As Nina-Maria Potts reports, one of the most controversial countries under scrutiny is Malaysia:

Thailand, Malaysia, Venezuela and Gambia dropped from the Tier 2 Watch List to join 20 other nations on Tier 3 in 2014. The upgrading of Malaysia this year, has upset human rights activists.
