Chinese artist Ai Weiwei will now be issued a full six month visa by the UK, having previously been refused one on the grounds he had lied about a criminal conviction.
The U-turn came after the Home Office began investigating the controversial decision to only allow AI Weiwei into the UK for 20 days.
The dissident Chinese artist wants to be in London for a major solo exhibition of his work in September at the Royal Academy of Arts.
He was detained in China for 81 days in 2011 but without being convicted of a crime.
