A long awaited report about airport expansion in Britain has recommended a third runway be added to the country's largest airport, Heathrow.
The Airports Commission, an independent body, says a new runway at Heathrow would would create around $200 billion US dollars in economic growth and 70 thousand extra jobs by 2050.
The Government is set to respond to the report by the end of the year.
The report is highly divisive. Around 800 homes would be destroyed to make way for the new runway and there would be costly changes needed to rail and road links.
Gatwick airport, also on the fringes of London is arguing it should be expanded instead of Heathrow.
London Mayor Boris Johnson told LBC radio that a new runway for Heathrow would have a "catastrophic effect" for Londoners.

The Airport Commission report recommends that should the third runway be added to Heathrow, restrictions be put in place, such as banning night flights, to reduce environmental and noise factors.
Heathrow's Chief Executive Officer John Holland-Kaye insists the public can be satisfied any expansion will be managed effectively.
