Sepp Blatter wins fifth term as FIFA president

Sepp Blatter has been re-elected as FIFA president for a fifth term, after his opponent  Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan pulled out, before the vote went to a second round.

Mr Blatter defeated Prince Ali in the first round of voting, but both men failed to secure a two-thirds majority. But Prince Ali conceded defeat before the election went to a second ballot.

Sepp Blatter is one of the most powerful people in the sporting world, and has run the global governing body of world soccer since 1998.

His re-election came in spite of deepening corruption scandal, and days after the US accused top FIFA figures and sports executives of taking massive bribes.

Switzerland is investigating Russia and Qatar's bids for the World Cup finals.

Sepp Blatter thanked his supporters, and vowed to reform FIFA:
