FIFA WARNED BY SPONSORS

FIFA has been warned by a series of major sponsors to tackle corruption issues, after the US launched a prosecution amid claims of racketeering, fraud and money laundering.

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has cancelled an appearance at a medical conference in Zurich on Thursday.

But FIFA still says the election for the organisation's presidency will go ahead on Friday, with Sepp Blatter expected to win a fifth term.

UEFA - European football's governing body - is meeting to decide whether to boycott that vote.

Kier Radnedge is a commentator on the politics of football, and is in Zurich - he says Mr Blatter believes he can make it to Friday and beyond.
