EU leaders dampen hopes of enlargement to the east at Eastern partnership summit in Riga

European Union leaders have dampened the hopes of EU membership for countries like Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

They are meeting for an eastern partnership summit with the heads of 6 former, soviet union countries in the Latvian capital, Riga.

The EU did however announce a 1.8 billion euro package of financial aid for Ukraine.
