US marks 50 years of civil rights

The Obama administration is renewing the call for opportunity for all Americans on the 50th anniversary of "Bloody Sunday" when the police used deadly force against peaceful demonstrators.

Earlier US President Barack Obama participated in a re-enactment of that march across the bridge in Selma Alabama - with some of the original participants including Representative John Lewis at his side.
