Cuba and the United States re-establish direct phone link


For the first time in 15 years, Cuba and the United States have re-established direct telephone links. 

The direct service has been restored between the two nations through an agreement signed by U.S. long-distance carrier IDT Telecom and Cuban state-owned telecommunications company Etecsa.
