U.S. defense budget busts spending caps by tens of billions

U.S. President Barack Obama is asking the new Republican Congress for an unprecedented level of spending, according Pentagon officials.

The president wants a defense budget of 534 billion US dollars for 2016, which is 35 billion more than previously agreed automatic spending cuts, known as sequestration.
