UK MPs VOTE ON 'THREE PARENT BABIES'

British MPs will vote later on whether to allow the use of DNA from three people to create babies.

The technique is being debated for the prevention of deadly mitochondrial diseases which are passed from mother to child.

It involves using IVF to combine the DNA of two parents with the mitochondria of a female donor.

It faces opposition from Church figures and critics who say it will lead to so-called 'designer babies'.

Professor Doug Turnbull from Newcastle University pioneered the technique.
