SYRIA 'RECEIVES INFORMATION ON US AIR STRIKES'

Syrian President Bashar al Assad says his government is receiving information from the US about air strikes on the Islamic State militant group.

In an interview with the BBC President Assad denied there had been any direct co-operation with Washington.

He also denied allegations his forces have been dropping 'indiscriminate' barrel bombs on rebel-held areas in Syria, killing thousands of civilians.

But he told the BBC his government is passed information about US operations.
