The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives John Boehner is defending his invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of the U.S. Congress next week.
Earlier, National Security Adviser Susan Rice in an interview with an American broadcaster, said the visit was destructive.
The current state of relations between Washington and Tel Aviv are being descrivbed as frayed over the negotiations with Iran about its nuclear programme.
