New Zealand judge questioned by MPs over Child Sexual Abuse inquiry

A prominent New Zealand judge, appointed to lead a major inquiry in child sex abuse allegations in the UK, has been questioned by a group of British MPs ahead of the start of the inquiry…

Justice Goddard say she is fully committed to the process, telling MPs the inquiry is likely to start in April and last up to four years.

Justice Goddard says she will regain the trust of survivors by "getting on with the job" - and told the Home Affairs Select Committee that no survivors will be forced to give evidence in public should they not want to.

The inquiry was set up after claims of paedophiles operating in Westminster in the 1980s. It surrounds allegations that at least 20 prominent figures - including former MPs and government ministers - abused children for "decades".
