China Hosts Open Debate at UN Security Council

Representatives from more than seventy countries attended an open debate at the United Nations Monday, to reaffirm their commitment to the UN Charter and examine how the Security Council can take a more active role in alleviating conflicts worldwide.

 The open debate was proposed by China, this month’s rotating president of the Security Council, and comes as the UN celebrates the 70th anniversary of its founding.
