White House "concerned" over links between Iran and Houthi rebels

The White House says it's concerned over links between Iran and Shia Houthi Rebels in Yemen, following yesterday's resignation of Yemeni President Hadi and his government.

The President resigned following clashes with the Houthi rebels.

White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said based on current intelligence, it is not clear that Iran is has a "controlling" influence over the Houthis but said Washington is concerned over apparent ties between the two.

Mr. Earnest said the Yemeni people have the US's full support as they work to restore a democratic government.
