US confirms LRA commander headed for ICC

The US State Department has confirmed that Lord's Resistance Army commander Dominic Ongwen is bound for the International Criminal Court.

The commander was taken into US custody last week, after defecting from the LRA.

He's wanted by the ICC for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

As State Department Spokesperson Marie Harf explains, custody of Ongwen will be transferred to the African Union, which plans to turn him over to the ICC.
