ISIS says a "countdown has begun" for the group to kill two Japanese hostages.

The deadline passed on Friday for Tokyo to pay a ransom of 200-million dollars to prevent ISIS from beheading the hostages.

An online post by known Islamic militants shows a countdown along with gruesome images of the group's past victims.

Japan has not released any details on efforts to free the hostages.
