France unveils major boost to counter terrorism force

France has unveiled a plan to boost its counter-terrorism force by creating over 2600 new jobs and increasing spending by 490 million dollars.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls announced the efforts, which come in response to the recent deadly attacks in Paris, which left 17 dead.

The plan will focus on improving France's surveillance programs.

Mr. Valls said there are currently some 3,000 people across the country that should be monitored.

He said these individuals have been involved in Islamist militant fighting or are deemed at risk to join the cause.
