ST LOUIS POLICE SAY OFFICER FEARED FOR HIS LIFE

A black teenager has been shot dead by police in Missouri - near where the killing of Michael Brown in August sparked worldwide protests.

St Louis County Police say the teenager pointed a gun at an officer at a petrol station in the suburb of Berkeley.

Crowds gathered and there were scuffles with police at the scene.

4 arrests were made.

Local media say the teenager who was shot is 18 year-old Antonio Martin.

But St Louis County Police chief Jon Belmar says the officer who fired at him had little choice.
