Russia raises interest rate to 17 percent - Rouble world's worst-performing currency

Russia's central bank has raised its key interest rate up to 17 percent from 10.5 percent as the rouble fell to record lows.

Monday saw the largest one-day fall for the currency since 1998.

That makes the rouble the world's worst-performing currency this year, having fallen over 49 percent against the US dollar.

Jake Rashbass reports.
