White House says today's election results will not reflect on Pres. Obama

As millions of Americans head to the polls for congressional and gubernatorial elections, the White House says, whatever the outcome, the public's voting will not be a reflection on President Obama.

It's widely predicted that the Republican Party will gain control of the Senate, and many say the President's low approval rating is largely to blame.

The Obama Administration says it remains optimistic that Democrats will do well in elections.

White House Spokesperson Josh Earnest says Americans are voting on the merits of individual candidates, not on their perceptions of the President himself.
