A telephone conversations between former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and US President Ronald Regan has been released by The White House.
The tape shows the President apologising to the Prime Minister over his order for troops to invade the Caribbean island or Grenada in 1983 - which is part of the Commonwealth.
US troops invaded the Caribbean island after its Prime Minister Maurice Bishop was overthrown and murdered. The move was strongly criticised by Britain, Canada and Trinidad and Tobago.
Mr Regan apologises to Mrs Thatcher at length saying the US was afraid to tell anyone in advance because of fears of a mole. Mrs Thatcher responds to say she understood the sensitivity because she had had similar concerns ahead of the invasion of the Falklands.
