Pistorius to oppose state appeal

INTRO:  Lawyers acting for convicted paralympic gold medallist Oscar Pistorius have indicated they would oppose attempts by prosecutors to appeal the manslaughter (culpable homicide) verdict and sentence handed to the athlete last month. Pistorius is currently serving a five year sentence for shooting and killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February last year. Many legal experts believe the judge erred in her ruling.
