US President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jingping have announced new pledges on cutting greenhouse gas emissions, after meeting for talks during Mr. Obama's state visit to Beijing.
The pair set a new goal of reducing US emission levels by between 26 and 28 per cent by 2025, compared with 2005 levels.
China has said its emissions will peak by 2030. Our Washington correspondent Lorna Shaddick reports.
