Turkey to vote on military action in Iraq and Syria

The Turkish parliament is voting on whether to allow its military to fight Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria.

Parliament is expected to approve the motion but Turkey has been wary of involvement in the conflict which is escalating just across its border in Syria.

The decision could mean the US will use its large airbase at in southern Turkey for air strikes.

Amanda Paul, a foreign policy expert at the European Policy Center says Turkey has shown a significant change in position.
