EU upholds sanctions against Russia

The European Union will not ease off economic sanctions against Russia for what it sees as Moscow's part in the Ukraine crisis.

Russia continues to deny any involvement in the violence in Eastern Ukraine.

There was an indication some aspects of the measures - which include targeted travel bans and asset freezes on individuals as well as restrictions against Russian banks raising money on European capital gains markets - could be lifted at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.

Jack Parrock reports.
