Court told Steenkamp family rejected Pistorius "blood money"

INTRO:  Dramatic testimony of payments to the parents of Reeva Steenkamp, who was shot and killed by paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius, has emerged in the sentencing phase of the trial in Pretoria. Pistorius has been found guilty of culpable homicide (manslaughter) for the death of Steenkamp. The court was told by a social worker during arguments in mitigation of sentence that Pistorius started making regular payments to the Steenkamp family about a month after he shot and killed their daughter. The state prosecutor rejected the testimony, saying that the victim's parents had rejected the payments, which they referred to as blood money. Gary Alfonso reports ...
