US President Barack Obama has announced an aggressive US effort to combat the spread of the deadly ebola virus in West Africa.
Speaking at the US Centre for Disease Control in Atlanta, Mr. Obama said the chances of such an outbreak occurring in the US are extremely low, but warned that an out-of-control epidemic in West Africa was a global security threat.
The President also confirmed plans to send up to three thousand US troops to Liberia to help deal with the outbreak, as Lorna Shaddick reports from Washington.
