HONG KONG PROTESTERS REFUSE TO DISPERSE

Pro-democracy protesters remain on the streets of Hong Kong, despite calls for them to leave.

Demonstrators are angry at plans for Beijing to vet candidates for Hong Kong's 2017 leadership elections.

Riot police used tear gas and batons to try and disperse the protests on Sunday.

The Wall Street Journal's Enda Curran says parts of Hong Kong remain at a standstill.
