GOP questions White House ISIL strategy

The Republican leadership on Capitol Hill is questioning U.S. President Barack Obama's strategy to attempt to dismantle and destroy the Islamic State primarily with airstrikes and help from regional allies.

The U.S. Congres must vote on additional spending, such as for suport and training of the moderate Syrian opposition fighters and possibly on Pentagon spending.

Speaker of the House John Boehner is not convinced that President Obama can keep his promise that there will be no American combat troops in Iraq or even in Syria.

A series of closed door briefings were held for Congressmen about the threat from the Islamic State following Presisdent Obama's speech.
