Pentagon 'Very Concerned' by Russian Convoy Movement

The Pentagon has said it's very concerned about the movement of a Russian convoy into eastern Ukraine, strongly condemning the action which is says shouldn't be taking place without the Ukrainian government's authorisation.

Russia says the convoy is a humanitarian mission and President Putin has said further delays to the delivery of aid would be unacceptable.

But Rear Admiral John Kirby said the action will only increase tension in the area:

IN: Russia should not...
OUT: ...costs and isolation
DUR: 24 seconds

Rear Admiral John Kirby said the US Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel had been told by his Russian counterpart that there would be no military intervention:

IN:  I would remind...
OUT: ...this humanitarian convoy
DUR: 22 seconds

Rear Admiral John Kirby said there are still more than 10,000 Russian troops near the border with Ukraine with sophisticated fighting capabilities:

IN: More worrisome than...
OUT: ...on a routine basis
DUR: 35 seconds
