China urges opening of Hormuz in Iran talks before Xi-Trump meet

INTRO: China’s top diplomat Wang Yi called for the swift reopening of the Strait of Hormuz during talks with his Iranian counterpart.

Russia advises civilians, diplomatic missions to evacuate from Kiev

Moscow has threatened Kyiv with a massive strike if it disrupts the Red Square military parade planned on Saturday as part of celebrations of the victory over Nazi Germany during World War II. It advised foreign countries to evacuate diplomatic and other staff from Kiev. Kiev had earlier dismissed Russia-proposed Victory Day ceasefire as cynical, accusing Moscow of violating the short-term truce President Zelensky had proposed from May 5-6. HANTAVIRUS SHIP TO HEAD FOR CANARIES

Spain has give permission for a cruise ship at the centre of a deadly hantavirus outbreak to dock in the Canary Islands.

The vessel is anchored off Cape Verde which says it lacks the medical facilities to deal with the situation.

Three passengers from the MV Hondius have died since it set sail from Argentina across the Atlantic Ocean last month.

Hantavirus is usually spread from rodent droppings, but the World Health Organization says there is a possibility of human to human transmission on the ship.

Rubio: Iran offensive "over" despite strikes

US gas prices near $4.50 amid stalled Iran conflict

US gas prices for motorists are nearing a new record of nearly $4.50 per gallon during the Iran conflict.
