The UK Foreign Minister has called escalating Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon ‘deeply damaging’ as more than 300 people are estimated to have been killed in the attacks.
Israel’s invasion of Lebanon and intensifying strikes on its neighbouring country have put strain on the US-Israeli ceasefire with Iran ahead of negotiations set to take place between the sides in Pakistan.
Iran has warned it will restrict shipping through the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for Israel's attacks on Lebanon, with US President Trump criticising Iran for breaching the ceasefire agreement by doing so.
British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said peace in the region depends on a resolution to the crisis in Lebanon.
