Sweeping Changes To Policing In England

Police in England must get to crime scenes within 20 minutes of receiving a 999 call.

It's just one of many changes to policing being made by the UK government, along with plans for a new national FBI-like force.

The sweeping reforms are aimed at cutting crime and getting more police officers away from their desks and on to the streets.

Critics argue that policing can't be improved without significant additional funding and more staff.

Policing minister Sarah Jones acknowledges that things need to be improved, and says the changes aim to stop crimes from going 'unpunished'.
