The UK's flu season is hitting earlier and harder than previous years, resulting in a spike of hospitalisations which are stretching the country's health service.

That's left hospitals facing a "worst-case scenario for this time of year" according to authorities.

UK Economy Suffers Unexpected 0.1% Shrink


The UK Economy has shrunk unexpectedly by 0.1%. 


Figures released on Friday by the Office of National Statistics (ONS) showed the economy contracted 0.1% in October despite economists having predicted a 0.1% growth.

Flu Cases On The Rise In England

It's feared the number of patients with flu in hospital in England could triple before infections peak.


Cases and hospital admissions are continuing to rise sharply.


Next week resident doctors are due to begin their latest five-day strike, but the British Medical Association is polling members to see if they are willing to call it off.

US, Ukraine, UK, France, Germany hold peace talks in Paris

The US, Ukraine, the UK, France and Germany will hold peace talks in Paris on December 13, in a follow-up to the Geneva talks last month, and ahead of a possible visit to Berlin by President Trump next week.

The US is reportedly pushing for an agreement on the wording of a Ukraine peace accord by Christmas.

Fed cuts rates 0.25 percentage points for third time this year
