Uganda's Long-Time Ruler Museveni Nominated to Stand as President in 2026

Intro

Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni - who is one of the longest-serving national leaders in the worldhas been nominated by the country's Electoral Commission to run again for the top office in next year's presidential election.

Museveni, who has been in power since 1986, says this will be his last term in office after a four decade rule.

Five other candidates, including his closest rival, musician Bobi Wine are set to be nominated in the coming days.
