President Trump Delivers Inaugural Address

Donald Trump's been sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.


In his inaugural address he promised a 'golden age' for America. The wide ranging speech went on to heavily criticize the outgoing Biden administration, promised to overhaul global trade policies and vowed to 'forge a society that is colorblind and merit based'.


The new President has said change will be swift and the issue of illegal immigration will be prioritized.

Social media firms agree to toughen up on hate speech

Major social media companies including Youtube, X and Instagram have
agreed to toughen up on hate speech within the European Union.

This comes despite criticism from Silicon Valley that the EU is
limiting freedom of speech online.

US faces coldest Inauguration Day in 40 years

Parts of the US are facing their coldest weather so far this year on Monday, with arctic air expected through much of the week.


Several regions are under Cold Weather Alerts, as Americans battle icy weather on Martin Luther King Jr Day, a federal holiday.


Freezing temperatures also saw Donald Trump's inauguration in Washington DC move indoors - marking the first time it's being held inside since 1985.

Biden issues final day pardons

Outgoing US President Joe Biden has issued multiple preemptive pardons
to protect top officials from Donald Trump's promised revenge.

They include pardons for former health official Anthony Fauci and

Aid Trucks Enter Gaza As Ceasefire Holds

US Supreme Court backs TikTok ban

TikTok may soon be outlawed in the United States, after the Supreme Court ruled a controversial ban can go ahead.


The popular social media app has faced criticism from American lawmakers for its ties to China, which they say carry national security concerns.


The ban is scheduled to begin on Sunday, unless TikTok severs ties with its China-based parent company ByteDance.

UN concerned about looming UNRWA ban in Gaza

The United Nations warns that a ban on its aid agency, UNRWA will have
a devastating effect on the future of Gaza and the occupied
Palestinian territories.
In October last year, Israel passed legislation to bar the United
Nations Relief and Works Agency from operating in Israel and the
occupied territories.

Trump's inauguration moved indoors

US President-elect Donald Trump's swearing-in ceremony will now take place indoors, with dangerously cold temperatures forecasted for his Inauguration Address on Monday. 


He'll take his oath of office and deliver his speech in the Capitol Rotunda itself, instead of on the steps of the Congressional building. 


It'll be the first indoor inauguration since 1985.

Biden commutes more sentences in final act in office
