A French painting that was stolen by the Nazis has gone on auction in Paris.

The artwork originally belonged to the powerful Rothschild family and was recovered at the end of World War II.

ARRESTS IN EUROPE PEOPLE SMUGGLING RAIDS

At least 20 people have been arrested in raids across Europe, targeting an alleged Syrian people smuggling gang.

Law enforcement agencies in Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia joined the UK's National Crime Agency and German police in taking action.

It's thought the network brought hundreds of migrants through the Balkans and then into Eastern Europe, before they were taken to Germany and the UK.

US charges Indian billionaire Adani with bribery

The United States has charged Indian billionaire Gautam Adani with orchestrating a $250 million bribery scheme.

U.S vetoes Security Council resolution on Gaza

The United States has once again used its veto to block a Security
Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

US EMBASSY CLOSES OVER WARNINGS OF AIR ATTACK IN KYIV

The US embassy in Kyiv has been closed temporarily following warnings of what's being called a potential "significant" air attack by Russia.

It comes after approval by Washington of the use by Ukraine of long-range Army Tactical Missile System (Atacms) missiles, which Russia says have already struck targets inside its territory.

It's also reported the US will now supply Ukraine with anti-personnel land mines.

Military analyst Sean Bell says this comes amid a major Russian focus on operations in eastern Ukraine.
